Jade Yarbrough steps out at Mercedes-Benz Sydney Women in Business Lunch

Jade Yarbrough has left her previous relationship with Michael Clarke in the dust, as she stepped out among Sydney’s most influential women.

Jade Yarbrough was among the star-studded guest list for a women in business lunch in Sydney on Tuesday.

The interior designer sister-in-law of Today host Karl Stefanovic appeared happy and relaxed as she was snapped arriving at The Calyx at The Royal Botanic Garden with close friend, artist Dina Broadhurst.

The circus of her previous relationship with former Aussie cricketer Michael Clarke has moved on, at least on Yarbrough’s side.

She and Clarke broke up earlier this year after footage was released of the pair arguing on the street in Noosa.

Sonia Kruger, Simone Holtznagel and Candice Warner were also among guests at the Mercedes-Benz Sydney 2023 Women in Business Luncheon.

Erin Molan was MC for the lunch and spoke of her pride in opening doors for women in sports media, and women watching the footy at home.

The prime time Sky News presenter and 2Day FM breakfast radio host has been the only woman behind the sports newsdesk for “my whole life to be honest”.

“Professionally, I’ve always been surrounded by men, at SKY News, in radio, and before that in rugby league for 10 years. I was the first woman in my line of work to do a lot of different things,” Molan told Confidential.

When she landed The Footy Show host seat in 2013, vicious and sexist online trolling began.

“I always accepted that just as part of the deal,” the 39-year-old said.

“More so, I was working alongside legends of the game. Having not played league at the highest level, I had to know my s--t back to front. Whereas those guys could make a mistake, or not know the answer to something, and it wouldn’t matter because they’d already earned their stripes on the field. There was always a different standard I was held to.”

“I wouldn’t ever purport to be the most talented or the best, but no one will ever work harder than I will at anything.”

This created a ripple effect.

Young women would approach her and say she inspired them to enrol in sports journalism, something now reflected in the workplace.

“You go to any household in this country 10 years ago, and mum and dad are watching the game. Mum’s often screaming louder at the TV and often knows more about particular players or strategies than her husband. All we were trying to do was reflect the way that women watch rugby league at home,” Molan said.

“I had so many ladies saying ‘my husband actually listens to me now since you joined the show’, and I’m really proud of the contribution I’ve been able to make.”
