SHE was bullied at school but breakout House Rules star Mandy Stone is proud to show that although she might feel like the only size 14 on TV, “normal-sized” women do belong on the small screen.
Stone and dairy farmer fiancee Toad Heffernan, who live on a property in the southeast NSW town of Bega, which features in this week’s episodes, have become the firm fan favourites on the Channel 7 renovation show.
And the mother of 20-month-old twins Lenny and Layla — is proud to represent “real” Aussie women.
“This is me, I’m glad to be there and be the only size 14 out of the girls on television,” Stone, 28, said.
“It shows kids and other women you can be a 14 or 12 and it’s fine, you don’t have to be an eight to be on TV.
“It is especially important for mums — after having babies you don’t always look the way you want to look and I’ve gone straight ahead onto a TV show.
“But it’s good to be out there for all the girls. Size 12 and 14 is definitely very normal and you see so many size 10s on TV you think that you’re not normal,” she said.
Stone said she and twin sister Christine “went through a lot of body shaming as we grew up”.
