Hollywood icon Drew Barrymore believes she’s got a “lifelong connection” with Australia, and now she’s touched down in Sydney.
The actor, producer, TV host and advocate landed by private jet on Friday afternoon ahead of her Wanderlust True North event at the ICC Sydney, but a visit to Taronga Zoo was her first priority.
This is the first time Barrymore has been in Sydney for five years.
Barrymore brought her two daughters, Olive, 11, and Frankie, 10, (who she shares with ex-husband Will Kopelman) with her on this trip.
Before landing in Sydney, Barrymore spent a couple of days at a secret location in Queensland.
The star of classic Hollywood films E.T. and The Wedding Singer, Barrymore will be interviewing celebrities Tones and I, Dannii Minogue, Terri Irwin, Emma Watkins and Baker Boy at the event.
It’s a fleeting visit to Sydney, though, as she heads to Brisbane on Saturday for the event there.
On returning to Australia, Barrymore told The Daily Telegraph she felt she had a “lifelong connection” with the country.
“I appreciate that I have gotten to go there so many different times throughout my life but it is a place that I really admire and love and am looking forward to getting to know better and to travel in a non-work capacity too,” she said.
