There is room for two action heroes in the Hemsworth/Pataky household.

Chris Hemsworth’s Hollywood star wife Elsa Pataky is taking the reins in new Netflix movie, Interceptor, which was shot in Sydney last year.

“The action man in the house is Chris so it is good to see mum doing the action and it’s good for my kids to have the inspiration,” Pataky told Confidential.

“I grew up watching all of the action movies and always wanted to do the female Indiana Jones so this is a bit the same in a way.”

Hemsworth scored an executive producer credit on the film written and directed by hugely successful Australian author Matthew Reilly.

Pataky plays American army lieutenant JJ Collins, who is forced to step in to save the world when 16 nuclear missiles are launched in the US.

Hemsworth dutifully stood back to let his wife shine at the Australian premiere of the film at the Randwick Ritz on Wednesday night.

“I feel like it is my moment so it’s very exciting,” the mother of three said.

“I have kind of liked being a mum for a little while and taking the kids to school and doing lunch boxes. It is good for my kids to see a strong woman in a lead role in an action movie.”
