Cocaine Cassie shows off new look after leaving prison

Cassandra Sainsbury says she felt her life was over when jailed for drug trafficking.

The now 28-year-old spent three years in a brutal Colombian prison after being caught with a suitcase containing 5.8kg of cocaine in 2017.

“My life was over,” Sainsbury told Secrets of the Underworld podcaster Neil Cummins.

“I did not see an end and I was waiting for a moment to just kind of kill myself. That is all I wanted to do because it was three years of misery.”

As a foreigner, Sainsbury explained that she was “picked on so much” and with her life threatened, she was placed in isolation for 14 months.

“They sent me to a high security yard where I was basically in isolation. It was a way of keeping me safe but it did not help my mental health at all,” she said.
