Fashion designer Kate Ford has wed long-time partner, NRL player Ryan Sutton, in Mexico.
Confidential has been given a front-row seat to the festivities as we share first-look images of their big day in Tulum surrounded by close family and friends.
The couple are parents to two-year-old twins, Ryder and Dakota.
“Ryan whispered to me during the ceremony saying I looked so beautiful and I couldn’t stop crying,” Ford told Confidential.
“I didn’t want to cry to wreck my makeup but it was really cute. He said he’s fallen in love with me three times – when he met me, when I gave birth to the kids and a third time when my dad walked me down the aisle. He is a big softie.”
Bulldogs player Sutton’s former Canberra Raiders teammates were there, including Tom Starling, Hudson Young and Jordan Rapana, as was Makahesi Makatoa from the Parramatta Eels.
A mariachi band played as the couple were pronounced husband and wife while guests threw rose petals as they walked out of the wedding to the cocktail reception.
Tequila shots were free flowing, a margarita tower (instead of traditional champagne) and a churros cart were all part of setting the Mexican party vibe.
Ford wore a custom gown she created herself for the nuptials before changing into Grace Loves Lace for the reception.
“We wanted a mix of a jungle and beach vibe,” Ford explained.
“I actually had fire ants crawling up my wedding dress while I was standing at the altar, it was very scary but my bridesmaids helped so I wasn’t bitten.”
Groomsmen surprised Ford and others during the speeches by unveiling matching ‘Amigos’ tattoos they’d had inked in the days prior.
From Mexico, the couple are now in Hawaii enjoying their honeymoon.
