Silver spoons and golden futures

The granddaughter of billionaire property developer Harry Triguboff has tied the knot in a lavish Sydney wedding.

Miki Hendler and Elliott Solomon wed at the weekend, surrounded by family and friends at the Triguboff family compound that is said to be worth about $100 million.

Friends flooded social media with images and video of the lavish wedding overlooking Sydney Harbour.

The couple did their first dance to Frankie Valli’s I Love You Baby while Hendler opted for two dresses from celebrity couturier Velani. Phillip Carr covered off the event styling.

“It was too good to be true,” Phillip Carr Event shared on Instagram with a video montage of the day.

Hendler is one of four grandchildren to 89-year-old grandfather Triguboff, who of course is one of Australia’s wealthiest people with an estimated worth of about $20.81 billion.

She has worked in the family business he founded, Meriton, and is a shadow board member for not-for-profit, WIZO.

Her new husband, Solomon, is part of the Solotel hospitality empire that has the likes of Chiswick, ARIA, North Bondi Fish and Chophouse on its books.

The couple are parents to young son, Archie, who was born in June.

Refreshingly, in lieu of a wedding gift or cash in a wishing well, the couple asked guests to donate to charity by way of the WIZO Sifriyat Pyjama Library.

“This is a literacy program for children aged two to three years,” the donation website read.

“Over the course of the year, each child will receive eight Jewish heritage books to take home and read with his/her parents.

“Often these children come from families where there are no additional funds to have books in the home, so this is an incredibly wonderful experience, not just for the child that brings the books home, but for siblings and parents to read together and connect.”

Harry Triguboff founded Meriton in 1963 and the private company has since developed and built more than 77,000 apartments in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Queensland.

Mr Triguboff was born in China to Russian parents in 1933 and lived there until moving to Australia in 1948.

He was schooled at Scots College in Sydney and later graduated from Leeds University in England with a degree in textile engineering.

He became an Australian citizen in 1961 and was a taxi driver and milk run owner before he built his first apartment block when he was 30 years old.

He has two daughters, Sharon and Oma, and four grandchildren Daniel, Ariel, Ella and Miki.
