One year after crossing paths with her husband to be, former Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice has tied the knot.
Rice wed pastor and father-of-three Mark Lassey at Sandalford Wines in Western Australia this week.
The prolific social media user shared a number of loved-up photographs via her Instagram account on Friday.
“It took 36 years but the wait was absolutely worth it.,” she captioned an image of herself with her new husband.
“This makes me heart so happy. All our favourite people together, sharing food under the stars at the most stunning location,” she added.
“Surrounded by our closest family and friends, those who have loved, supported and guided us on our journey, all came together to celebrate our love and the beginning of forever together.”
“As we step into this new chapter as husband and wife, where two become one, our hearts are so full.
“The day was everything we dreamt it would be — overflowing with love, joy and the tangible presence of God. It felt like heaven touched earth.”
Her relationship with Lassey has moved quickly, with the pair becoming engaged in September.
“Here’s to fresh starts and second chances,” Rice wrote at the time. “Yes to a lifetime with you.”
Just months prior, in May, Rice released a video on Instagram detailing the end of her “really challenging relationship” with ex-boyfriend Dane Christison.
Since becoming engaged four months ago, Rice has updated her followers with details of her wedding and honeymoon.
“I’m progressing with our wedding and honeymoon planning,” she wrote.
“I just want it to be a really beautiful, carefree day filled with God, love and to eat yummy food.
“Mark and I are so aligned in our values. Our whole relationship has been really beautiful, we are walking together to the same place. It’s made the process so enjoyable.”
Stephanie had been quietly dating the Australian pastor for five months before officially confirming their romance last year.
They were reportedly introduced through a mutual friend and then started a long-distance romance as Lassey is based in Perth while Stephanie lived in Dubai.
‘When we met almost 5 months ago, we both knew this was different,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
“From the start, there was a deep intentionally between us, and because of the complexities of our lives we wanted to keep these first few months between close family and friends, and enjoy the wonder of falling in love.”
Rice’s love life has previously made headlines around the world.
After splitting from Aussie swimming great Eamon Sullivan following the Beijing Olympics, rumours spread Rice had been romantically linked with Michael Phelps, former NRL winger David “Wolfman” Williams, Aussie swimming bad boy Nic D’Arcy and Christison.
