A North Shore bakery has tripled its sales after it was revealed they were tasked with baking Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour cake.

Baker Gabriela Oporto, from Forestville bakery Bakealicious by Gabriela, was asked by Swift’s team to make a cake.

Which they ordered and paid for.

On Friday, before the first of Swift’s sold out Sydney shows, Oporto delivered a layered cake as well as an array of brownies and tarts to the pop star and her entourage.

The Bakealicious Era Cake specifically combines Swift’s favourite Milk Bar Cake (a famous bakery in New York) with Oporto’s signature Chilean Mil Hojas and Dulce de Leche Cake. It’s finished off with puff pastry horns filled with Dulce de Leche buttercream.

The cake itself is topped with glitter and a lavender flower, a hint to Swift’s hit songs Bejewelled and Lavender Haze.

“I got the call on Tuesday and I was jumping up and down and screaming,” said Oporto.

“With the cake, I came up with that invention in two hours.”

Oporto also sent Swift some lamingtons, so she would have a taste something “typically aussie.”

The cake, which cost $65, was also made available to the public and over the weekend Oporto’s sales tripled.

It’s similar to the experience Milk Bar bakery chain, based in New York, had after it baked a cake for Swift’s 34th birthday in December. Google search trends for “what is a milk bar cake” soared by 700 per cent.

Back in Sydney, Oporto’s creations have also been enjoyed by touring superstars like Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran.

Oporto started her business in 2017, after dreaming of having her own cake shop since she was four.

She quit her job and started baking in her rented apartment in Crows Nest.

Now Oporto is catering for the biggest stars in the world. The next on her hit list is UK’s celebrity, and Michelin-starred, chef Gordon Ramsay.

“That’s how crazy I am. He’s so strict and analytical, I would love the challenge.”
