Flashback: Brownlow Medal night’s most fashionable WAGS on their first red carpet outings — and how their style has evolved
IT’S ten years since Bec Judd wore that red dress. Take a trip down Gownlow memory lane and see our WAGS in their first red carpet frocks — compared to their style today.
It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since Rebecca Twigley, an athletic model from Perth, donned a navel depth neckline and stole the spotlight right from under her spouse’s nose on Brownlow night.
Her red carpet style has since become more polished and elegant, landing her on the best dressed list year after year.
We decided to delve into the Gownlow archives to see how the style of WAGs has changed over the years.

Today’s WAGS
Rebecca Judd (nee Twigley)
It was obvious that Rebecca Twigley would steal the spotlight right from under her spouse’s nose in her plunging red Ruth Tarvydus dress.
The brunette beauty also chose a similar bold red hue for her J’Aton gown last year.
The more demure lace creation with high neck and long sleeves was the perfect choice for Judd who was then pregnant with daughter Billie.
Taylor Wilson
Dane Swan’s long-term partner was dripping in diamonds when she took to the red carpet in 2009, wearing a custom made gown by Melbourne designer Aldo Terlato worth more than $500,000 thanks to the 1105 diamonds which were all hand-stitched onto the dress.
Wilson has refined her style in the nine years since, taking a less is more approach with a sleek belted gown by Helen Manuell.
Nadia Bartell (nee Coppolino)
While Nadia has always been a bronzed goddess, her style is much more polished and sophisticated today.
Her Grecian white Helen Manuell gown was svelte and sexy back in 2009, but her spangled Thurley frock last year was spectacular.
Alex Davis
The striking model and partner of Scott Pendelbury has always been a firm favourite on the red carpet.
It would appear the blonde bombshell has stuck to a winning fashion formula too, opting for a white halter-neck dress with a loose up-do in 2008 and again last year.
Kylie Brown (nee Adams)
Never one to fear away from vivid colour and bold print, Brown has always been fashion forward in her frocks.
With good looks and a body to match, it has only been her confidence that has seen her shine brighter since her Brownlow debut.
Veteran WAGs
Olivia Crawford (nee Anderson)
With a mega watt smile and natural glow, Olivia has never shied away from bold statements, but then she has had to compete with Shane.
One of the most likable and naturally stunning women to ever grace the red carpet on footy’s night of nights.
Tania Hird (nee Poynton)
It would appear that fashion and Brownlow’s dress code have come a long way since Tania Poynton attended the Brownlow with her then boyfriend; her strapless mini skirt kept classy with a pair of shiny sheer stockings.
Today the svelte blonde is much more glamorous on Gownlow night.
Tania Buckley (nee Minnici)
Famous for flashing her knickers, Buckley has always been one of the more daring WAGS, not afraid to flash some flesh, cleavage or panty line.
But her style has evolved over the years, revealing a more sophisticated side to her style.
