Dating show success: we do the maths

It’s the steamy photo which sent his followers into a spin, however Kris Smith’s recent selfie was almost a whole lot racier. The Myer model told Sunday Confidential the first shot he took of himself was actually in the nude, however his boss told him it was “a little too much” so he reshot a toned down version.

“I put it up and didn’t think twice about it,” Smith said.

“I had a conversation with Christine Parkes, the CEO of Tanned Australia, and said people are going through a hard time, can I post a pic and give some product away to people in Victoria to cheer them up.

“The first picture I took I was totally naked, I was stark naked and I said to Christine, what about this shot?’ She said ‘that might be a little too much’. Then I asked my partner Sarah and she said ‘it looks hot, but put some undies on’. So I ran to the upstairs bathroom and took the shot I ended up posting.”

Melbourne-based Smith has been using his time in lockdown to get fit and strong but admits it could have gone either way after revealing he is prone to a “blowout”.

“I thought I could go into isolation drinking and eating and making myself feel like crap, or I could turn it into a positive thing and sort myself out,” he said.

“I went into isolation probably 105kg then I set myself small, achievable targets. Before I knew it I was down to 96kg. Sarah and I are very fortunate we built a gym in our garage and we have been training each day, and I have employed a nutritionist from Sydney.”

Smith, who recently shot Myer’s Father’s Day campaign, said he was grateful the coronavirus pandemic had allowed him to spend more time with his three children, even if it did make him question his own intelligence.

“It has been a blessing in disguise,” he said.

“I am extremely grateful for the extra time I have with the kids.

“Ethan is 10 now and he has gone into Year 5, so he has been homeschooling.

“He has handled it really well and I am getting an insight into his school work and questioning my intellect really. I don’t know a lot of the answers.

“This is a 10-year-old’s work. I can understand people feeling this way with Year 10 and 11 homework.”

WHY EVERYONE WANTS AUSSIE FARMER HARRY

After years of little attention from the opposite sex, Farmer Wants A Wife breakout star Harry Robertson has been inundated with private messages from keen singles since appearing on
the show.

“I am definitely not a social media person and am definitely not used to the attention,” he told Sunday Confidential.

“Some interesting characters have come out of the woodworks, which is funny. They all want to know about me and my life. I have gone from no one really caring about my love life too much, now everyone wants a piece of it. I guess that’s what happens with these sorts of shows.”

However, unlike many other reality TV contestants, Robertson isn’t letting the new-found fame give him an ego.

“I have plenty of mates around here who put me back into line if I get too excited,” he said. “I will never change.”

Robertson will tonight decide between Stacey Cain and Madison MacKenzie.

AUSSIE MODEL’S DREAM SHOOT

Work has halted for many of the world’s top models, however Australian beauty Nathalie Darcas has landed her dream gig amid the pandemic.

The Sydney-born model has kicked a major career goal and is currently featured on a giant billboard in New York’s Times Square for cult US denim brand American Eagle.

“It was a big pinch me moment,” she said.

“Ever since I moved to the States I have always been drawn to American Eagle’s lingerie brand Aerie Real.

“They were one of the first brands to champion no retouching. It doesn’t get much cooler than that. I wanted to work for them from day one.”

Darcas is used to countless people being on set while shooting global campaigns, however shooting in New York during the peak of the pandemic meant just four people could be present.

“We needed to take every precaution necessary,” she said.

“In the end there was only (photographer) Ali Mitton, her husband Bryan, who is a producer, her digi tech and myself.

“What made the campaign even more exciting was getting to shoot it with Ali, who is a fellow Aussie. Ali has made a serious name for herself in the States, she has an eye like no other and I am always excited about the images we create together.”

What the future looks like is uncertain for many models Darcas is looking on the bright side.

“The coronavirus has definitely brought unprecedented change to my work,” she said.

“I spent the better part of last year at the airport travelling from job to job. As of March that completely stopped.

“I have never spent so much time at home, nurturing my home life and my friendships.”

NEW LOVE ENDS OF SHANINA

Unlucky in love Victoria’s Secret model Shanina Shaik has quietly split from her boyfriend, Seyed Payam Mirtorabi.

The split comes just eight months after her divorce from DJ Ruckus, real name Gregory Andrews, was made official.

While Shaik’s relationship with Andrews was often splashed all over social media, Shaik was notoriously private about her relationship with London-based company director, Mirtorabi, however confirmed their romance in February when she shared a photograph of the pair together, wishing him a happy birthday.

In a since-deleted Instagram post from November, the Melbourne born beauty revealed she
had found love again, however didn’t tag Mirtorabi, referring to him only as P.

In another confirmation they were together she posted a snap of them on a harbour cruise and covered his face with a love heart emoji.

While Shaik’s agent didn’t respond to Sunday Confidential’s request for comment on the break-up, a telling post which was captioned, “What I have learned this week … nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know,” fuelling speculation it is over between Shaik and Mirtorabi.
