Kyle Lovett is the latest NRL player to make the switch from footy head to film buff.

The former West Tigers player, who played over 50 first grade games for the club before a stint in English Super League, is now trying to build a career as an actor, writer, producer and director.

Lovett has wrote, starred and directed in the low budget short film, “Boys Light Up” and last month announced he was about to start pre-production on another film he’s written, Lickerish.

“It’s been amazing this whole journey going into the film industry and [it’s] exciting times ahead,” he said to fans on Instagram.

He’s of course not the only NRL star to try and tackle Tinseltown. Former South Sydney Rabbitohs player George Burgess has appeared in three films, while still playing.

And 90s Sea Eagles and Rabbitohs player Matt Nable is now a household name in the Australian film and television industry as well as staring alongside international talent like Vin Diesel and Jason Statham.

NEIGHBOURS IN RACISM REVIEW

Freemantle Media, the production company behind soap Neighbours, has announced it will launch an independent review after actors Shareena Clanton and Meyne Wyatt alleged claims of racism on set.

Chris Oliver-Taylor, CEO of Fremantle Asia Pacific, said the company is committed to providing an environment where employees and others in the workplace are treated fairly and with respect.

“We have asked Campfire X, creative leaders in Indigenous Cultural Protocols, to conduct an independent review of Neighbours and the production process,” the statement read.

“We do not tolerate behaviour that does not align to our Anti-Discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Harassment & Bullying Policy and take all complaints very seriously, investigating all allegations fairly and thoroughly.”

The statement came as news was released that the Melbourne-based cast were due to make appearances at the Sydney Royal Easter Show over the weekend.

However, a late production schedule means the visit will no longer go ahead.
