She was primed and ready to perform the songs from her multi-platinum Mistaken Identity album two decades ago, however received her cancer diagnosis meant it didn’t happen.
What was meant to be some of the best months of her life came to an abrupt halt, following her cancer diagnosis.
Now 20 years on, Delta Goodrem will take to the stage for her long anticipated tour.
It will kick off with an intimate performance at the Sydney Opera House on April 14 next year, with the songstress recently announcing a second show for fans on April 15.
To mark the occasion, Goodrem, who was diagnosed with cancer at just 18-years-old, has shared a never seen before image of herself in 2004 in London for the promotion of her Mistaken Identity album.
Released in November 2004, the album was written during Delta’s battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma,
“It was an album that came from the heart and reflected the battles I was facing,” Goodrem told Confidential.
“Each song was a piece of my journey, and I wanted to be honest about the shadows as much as the light.”
“This record taught me so much about the power of music to connect us in our
vulnerabilities,” she says. “It was raw, real, and unfiltered, and the connection it
made with fans was unlike anything I had experienced before. I’ll forever be
grateful for how this album connected me with people during one of the hardest
times in my life. Looking back, it was amazing to see how many people took Mistaken Identity into their lives and hearts, for their own journeys.”
The tour is also set to be performed Internationally, with shows announced for
the 14th and 15th of May at London’s Hackney Empire.
These shows follow the sold-out success of her Innocent Eyes 20th Anniversary
Tour in 2023.
Inspired by her journey, Goodrem founded the Delta Goodrem Foundation to support cancer research and honour healthcare workers.
Key initiatives include the Foundation Fellowship in Cellular Therapy, Angels and Heroes Nurse Recognition Program, and the Community of Kindness which highlight her ongoing commitment to giving back”
