THERE’S no dillydallying around for these WAGS, who are ready to rock rugby league’s night of nights.

The wives and girlfriends of NRL players have been busy preparing their red carpet looks ahead of the Dally M Awards on Wednesday night.

Carley Widdop, wife of St George Dragons player Gareth Widdop, said the awards ceremony is as much fun for the partners as it is for the players.

“The Dally M Awards is a chance each year to catch up with our friends in the league and celebrate a great season,” she told The Daily Telegraph.

“Being a mum of three, it’s a rare opportunity for me to get dressed up and experience a red carpet.”

Jessica Maloney and her husband, Penrith Panthers captain James Maloney, are regulars at the awards but she says the pair will never get used to the glamorous side of football.

“It’s certainly not something we get to do very often,” Ms Maloney said. “I do get terrified walking the red carpet but once I’m inside I get to relax a bit more. James would much prefer to play and not walk a carpet.”

It is the first time Jesse Arena will walk the Dally M red carpet with boyfriend Parramatta Eels player Clint Gutherson. She is looking forward to the opportunity to bond with some of the women behind league.

“This is my first Dally M Awards,” Ms Arena said.

“I am really looking forward to getting glammed up and spending time with the girls.”
