Singer Conrad Sewell says he has met the woman he believes may one day become his wife.
The ARIA Award winner is cautious though not to give too much away about the budding romance after his previous high profile relationship with singer Alli Simpson.
“I am very in love,” Sewell said, careful not to give too much away about his “mystery girlfriend” of eight months who he has known since he was a teenager.
“When it is right it is easy. We have a very real relationship. It is hard being away from each other a lot but we are working on that, we are making plans. I am all in.”
Sewell, 31, sat down with Confidential for our In Bed With JMo series at Sydney’s Darling Hotel at The Star, talking about everything from his love life to touring, what he wears to bed (boxers) and new music.
He is set to embark on his national Big World regional tour in January, starting in Dubbo on the 25th of the month.
First though, he is scheduled to travel overseas to Nashville, New York and London to begin work on his next album.
“I’m getting ready for album two,” he said. “It is going to be real soul, live horns, uplifting music. This first album for me was so serious about all the shit I was going through, about how I was partying too much and the girls I lost because of that. It was almost like my art album that I had to get out of me. Now I am in a way better place, I just want to write uplifting big anthemic songs that people will love and dance to and not be moping around.”
Sewell’s award-winning debut album — Life — was a long time coming, topping the chartson release earlier this year and spawning hit singles Healing Hands, Changing, Love Me Anyway and new track Big World.
The album documented the highs and lows of his life to date and he has been open about his struggles with drugs and alcohol.
“At that point in my life I really had to take a step back and I got completely sober for a while,” he explained. “Now, I will still have a drink every now and then but I don’t do drugs anymore. I made some big changes in my life, I think it was a phase in my life where I got a little lost to be honest and I am through the other side now.”
As a judge on recent TV hit The Masked Singer, American star Lindsay Lohan referenced her friendship with Sewell.
Asked about that, Sewell said there has never been anything romantic between the pair.
“We are just really good friends,” he said. “We’ve had some crazy nights out but it has never been romantic. Lindsay is actually a really nice and good person. She is hilarious and says whatever she thinks.”
