Shane Jacobson has announced he will host the 2019 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards Ceremony.
The Australia’s Got Talent judge told Confidential that he’s looking forward to the annual event, which recognises excellence in the film and television industry.
“I thought they had the wrong number when they told me!” he said.
“A lot of the people in the room I consider to be friends but a lot of them are people that I look up to. I’m a huge fan of awards nights, always have been. I’m that guy that sits at home in comfortable clothing, pyjamas with my feet up and a glass of wine.
“I wont have a chance to do that this year as I’ll have to put a suit on.”
Jacobson will be joined by an incredible line-up of top Australian film and television talent including: Asher Keddie, Rodger Corser, Joel Creasey, Manu Feildel, Rachel Griffiths, Miranda Tapsell and more.
AACTA award winner Jessica Mauboy will perform on the night.
Actor Sam Neill is set to receive Australia’s highest screen accolade — the Longford Lyell Award.
The discretionary award will acknowledge Neill’s outstanding contribution to the enrichment of Australia’s screen culture and remarkable career including three Golden Globe nominations, two Primetime Emmy Award nominations, and eight AFI | AACTA Award nominations and wins.
The 2019 AACTA Awards Ceremony presented by Foxtel will take place on Wednesday 4 December at The Star and broadcast on Channel 7.
