DAVE Hughes is taking on the role of a modern day ‘Agony Uncle’ for a new show on Channel Ten.

Hughesy...We Have A Problem stars the comedian as host of a panel talk show that works through real people’s everyday issues.

The original format, commissioned by Ten for eight episodes, will pair Hughes with a panel of well-known faces.

“It could be anything from ‘My wife wants to catch up with her ex, is that OK?’ to ‘My friend’s kid is too rough with my kid’ or ‘I’m on Tinder and I’m not getting swiped’,” Hughes told Confidential.

“It could be anything. It’s very new, I’m excited about it.”

While shows combining comedy with a panel have had mixed success in the past and audiences can be fickle with the genre, Hughes is confident in the new format.

“Every now and again you think ‘Stuff it I’ll have a go’,” he said of his new gig.

“This one has an honest edge to it that differentiates it. I like real stories, which is not a plug for Hamish and Andy’s show, but I like the truth, which is what you’ll get from everyone on this show.”

Hughesy...We Have A Problem began filming in Sydney this weekend and will air on Ten in 2018.
