Christine Anu to perform at Australian Turf Club’s Pink Fashion Lunch

After a year of no live gigs, singer Christine Anu is ready to get back to work, and she doesn’t plan on holding back.

AFTER a year of no live gigs, Christine Anu is ‘hungry’ to get back on stage.

“I am hungry for it, hungry for real faces, not faces on a screen so to speak,” the singer told The Daily Telegraph.

“What we miss about performing is that it is tactile and it is immediate, the reactions and everything that you feel, hear and see. What I have missed is exactly that. I miss that excitement of being in front of an audience, I haven’t had that for a while.”

Anu, one of our top female artists, will headline the Australian Turf Club’s Pink Fashion Lunch to kick off the six-week Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival on March 13.

Chandon Ladies Day at Rosehill Gardens will also be supporting the McGrath Foundation.

Anu has vowed to wear her best pink outfit on the day, as racegoers are also encouraged to wear the colour to raise awareness and funds for the breast cancer charity.

“I will definitely be splashing myself out in super loud, energetic pink,” she said. “I love the races. I love horses, they are magnificent creatures. And I love a bit of fashion.”

Anu celebrated her 50th birthday last March with a party before the coronavirus pandemic hit.

“I am loving being my age,” she said.

“I wish that I knew the things that I do now when I was younger but hey, what is the point if you can’t live and make mistakes and share them in songs.

“Things are looking great as we try to work out what the new world looks like with COVID.”
