SCENE STEALING VAMP FOR EDELSTEN
CONTROVERSIAL model Gabi Grecko made another scene-stealing entrance on Melbourne’s social stage with a surprise visit to the Brownlow Medal ceremony tonight.
Grecko, dressed in a self-made outfit with heavy Gothic tones, crystal adornments on her face and a glove with a Freddie Krueger-like metal spike, told Confidential: “I feel good. I’m here with my favourite person.”
That man, her medico fiancee Dr Geoffrey Edelsten, stood hand-in-hand with Grecko, wearing a black sharp suit with a rhinestone bedazzling on the back.
The last time Dr Edelsten went to footy’s night of nights, it was with another show stopper, his costume popping ex-wife Brynne Edelsten.
Grecko arrived in Melbourne from her hometown New York earlier today.
She will return to the Big Apple tomorrow.
“(Edelsten) told me it’s the biggest football event, and it’s been going for years,” Grecko said of the Brownlow. “I flew in for one day to be here. I’m having fun.”
Grecko made her own dress for the event.
“I love to dress up. I made my dress,” she said. “I get to express myself fashion wise, which is my favourite thing to do.”
Asked about inspirations for the provocative outfit, she said: “It’s a mixture of tough edges of Givenchy Thierry Mugler, and Jean Paul Gaultier. Those are my inspirations most of the time.
“I knew I wanted to wear crystals, so I put them on my face. I was going to go all out but it took way too long these ones on.”
Her spike glove was by glamour meets grunge designer Rick Owens. “I need to be careful,” Grecko said, waving her metallic finger around like a weapon.

For a girl who is well-versed on how the media works, it seems a bit strange she would not be photographed alone, because c’mon how are you going to get placed on a best dressed list without being pictured alone?
FIRST NIGHT OFF
NATHAN and Jerri Jones were having their first night away from their baby daughter Bobbi.
The Demons captain admitted to missing his new love, with Jones, who gave birth in June, a standout in a black One Day Bridal gown.
“It is the first night without her so it will feel weird,” Jerri said of Bobbi.
“My sister is looking after her and we’re staying at Crown for the night.”
Also without children for the night were Jonathan and Kylie Brown, attending their last Brownlow.
“I think Kyles wants to go out with a bang,” he said.
NEVER TEAR PORT APART
PORT Adelaide chairman David Koch has spoke about his personal connection to the club’s unofficial song, the INXS hit Never Tear Us Apart.
“I went to Forest Hill High School where (INXS musician) Kirk Pengilly was two years behind me,” Koch said on the red carpet at the Brownlow Medal ceremony tonight. “When INXS first formed they were like our school band.”
The song has been adopted by Port supporters and sung at home games.
“It says so much about the club; how we’ve come together, gone through some tough times, and we stood united, a really proud club with a lot of history. It’s become a wonderful ritual.”
Pengilly and wife, surf champion Layne Beachley, have told Koch they want to attend the next Swans v Power game in Adelaide so they can “experience” the song for themselves.
WATSON DIG?
Not sure if Channel Seven was having a not so subtle dig at the Essendon supplements scandal when they were playing their Brownlow soundtrack of Habits (Stay High) by Tove Low during their coverage when interviewing former Brownlow winner and Essendon skipper Jobe Watson. Ouch!
KING ABLETT AND QUEEN OF JORDAN
GARY Ablett arrived fashionably late with partner Jordan Papalia, with the Suns star saying he was looking forward to catching up with teammates and friends.
“I’m feeling good, whatever nerves I have, it’s nothing a few beers won’t fix,” he said of the count ahead.
Ablett, who is 10 weeks post shoulder operation, said he would be ready for the first day of pre-season training.
Papalia was a standout on the red carpet again in a gown by Anthony Montesano of Signor Mont Couture.
“I love this dress,” she said. “It’s great to be at another Brownlow,” she said.
Ever the gentleman, Ablett fixed his girlfriend’s dress as she stumbled on the red carpet.
BROWNLOW HOLIDAY DASH
REBECCAH Panozza and partner Travis Cloke cut their Fiji holiday short to be at the Brownlow.
The new couple dashed back on Friday so Panozza could have a fitting for her aptly designed black and white Alex Perry standout frock.
“We flew home a little bit early to get ready,” she said. “We were going to come back Sunday but it was still nice to get away.”
Panozza, the new VRC and Myer Fashions on the Field ambassador, only had a small window between duties to spend time with her Magpies beau.
She was making her debut on the red carpet.
“It was the only time I could get away,” she said. “I felt fine all morning about coming, but then I was a bit nervous and it kicked in when I was getting in the lift.”

‘TAKE A RISK WHY NOT’
Renee Enright made a statement, rocking a white pant suit on the red carpet on Monday night.
Pulling styles like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, the stylist wife of Geelong star Corey Enright said she wanted to wear something different this year.
“Take a risk, why not?” she said of her white jacket and beaded pants designed by Debra Fisher Couture.
“It’s much more comfortable.”
Enright, who is a stylist, has been a standout in past years.
6:28pm — BRIDES, BRIDES, BRIDES
There is always a theme on the Brownlow ruby rug and 2014 was no different.
Gary Ablett Jnr’s girlfriend Jordan Papalia made a statement, in bridal white, wearing Anthony Montesano of Signor Mont Couture.
Nadia Bartel carried on the theme as did Kylie Brown, Jo Silvagni and Bec Judd.

BROWNLOW BABY
FORMER Cat’s skipper Tom Harley’s wife Felicity showed off her latest Brownlow accessory, a baby bump.
Pregnant with her second child, Harley was positively glowing in Alex Perry red.
The wife of former Geelong great and Channel 7 commentator Tom Harley said she was worried about fitting into her red Alex Perry gown.
“I tried it on four weeks ago and it wasn’t as tight,” she said.
“It’s never easy getting a dress when you’re pregnant.”
“I did have terrible morning sickness and then we went away to Bali and since then I’ve felt great.”
The couple, who have a son Jimmy, are expecting their second child in March.
“We won’t find out what we’re having. It’s exciting.”
It is not the first time Harley has shown off a bump at the Brownlow.
In 2012, Harley walked the carpet, again in Alex Perry, when pregnant with their first child.
NADIA BRIDEL
SHE’S a regular on best dressed lists but Nadia Bartel says her Brownlow outfit is a last-minute rush.
Looking like she was set to walk down the aisle in her warrior-wedding inspired gown with studded shoulder detail, waist-cinched belt and figure hugging fishtail hemline.
“We sort of changed the dress a little bit last-minute — I’m seeing it today,” she said of the gown designed by One DayBridal.
JUDD IN J’ATON
Queen WAG Rebecca Judd showed she still loves local designer J’Aton.
Looking straight off the haute couture runway, Judd is wearing a tiered ball gown with high neckline cutouts and beaded embellishments.
Meanwhile, Bec was no doubt thinking about the late designer Ruth Tarvydas when she walked the red carpet at the Brownlow Medal.
The Perth based designer was responsible for that famous red dress that Judd, then Rebecca Twigley, wore in 2004.
In Perth last Friday Judd walked in a tribute show dedicated to Tarvydas at the Perth Fashion Festival.
Tarvydas tragically passed away in May.
“LESS IS MORE”
BROWNLOW Channel 7 red carpet presenter Rachael Finch was the first to wow on the red carpet wearing in a jaw dropping gown by Paolo Sebastian.
The black lace and sheer panelled split ball gown was a show stopper, with some saying she paid homage to Angelina Jolie’s infamous red carpet Oscars “leg”.
When asked about Brownlow
“I always think less is more. When you add more and more ... I think that’s when it can get a bit tricky,” Finch said.
Finch was fitted via a Skype session with the designer.
