Brownlow Red Carpet
Don't miss out on the headlines from Brownlow Red Carpet. Followed categories will be added to My News.
TATTOOS on show, nary an Edelsten frock shock in sight and new flame on a billionaire arm. We have all the goss and glam from the Brownlow red carpet.
■ SHOCK horror, there was no sign of Geoffrey Edelsten, or either of his two wives — Brynne or Gabi — on the red carpet last night at the Brownlow.
The last few years Edelsten, firstly with Brynne, and last year with Gabi, have provided some much talked about movement and colour, and lots of criticism.
We hear that Gabi was all set to come, but that all changed after she packed her bags last week and headed back to her home in New York City.
■ FRANCESA PACKER BARHAM was on the guest list at Crown last night, after she recently split with her boyfriend, Sydney musician, Joshua Mullane.
We are told that Packer Barham, the niece of James Packer, was at the function with a friend Kelli Holland.
■ SINGER James Blunt and his wife Sofia Wellesley are not complete strangers when it comes to AFL football.
“I know everything about it,” Blunt joked to Confidential.
“Two of my band mates are married to people in Perth, but I think my money on Saturday will be on Hawthorn.”
Blunt flew down from Sydney the night after his first live show on The X Factor.
“The X Factor is something I never expected to do in the first place,” he said.
“I think the importance of the show, is that there are no other shows around where established musicians get to come on and sing live.
“It’s also an amazing way to get into the business.”
Blunt is impressing on the judging panel, which would be music to the ears of the creator of the show, British music mogul Simon Cowell.
The couple are expecting their first child.
■ A FOOTY WAG has slammed the Brownlow for becoming an event that focuses on judging women rather than celebrating AFL.
Annie Nolan, partner of Western Bulldogs player Liam Picken, called on the public to “be kind” to the women at footy’s night of nights, claiming WAGs are offered as much dignity as “a pig on a spit”.
“The night has become about the judgement of the appearance of these women,” she wrote on her Uncanny Annie blog.
■ WITH all the talk about WAGS and the amount of time they put into the night, champion Nat Fyfe stole their thunder when it came to the best fashion accessory at the big night..
Because of his fractured leg, Fyfe rocked up to the red carpet with the aide of a walking stick.
Rather then ugly crutches, the walking stick was the perfect way to deal with the painful injury on a black tie event.
Fyfe arrived at the Brownlow by himself and was refreshing and candid, if not a little shy, on the red carpet.
He looked fantastic on the night.
■ PIP Marques, girlfriend of Saints’ player Josh Bruce used Jane Fonda for some inspiration.
Marques bucked the floor skipping gown trend, wearing a jumpsuit on the ruby rugg.
The Balmain jumpsuit has been worn by none other than our own model extraordinaire Abbey Lee Kershaw at the Mad Max: Fury road premiere in New York.
Meanwhile, age-defying actress Jane Fonda wore a version of the jumpsuit, in emerald green, to the Grammy Awards.
