Brian Austin Green promotes Left Write Hook charity while in Sydney

Brian Austin Green is only 51 but he is already thinking about his legacy. That’s understandable for someone with a career spanning four decades.

Brian Austin Green is not interested in “nice”.

The Hollywood actor, best known for starring roles in the likes of Beverly Hills, 90210 and Desperate Housewives, would rather his legacy be one of kindness.

“I am not a huge fan of the word nice because someone can pretend to be nice,” Austin Green told The Daily Telegraph.

“You can fake being nice. You can be nice if you are in a situation where you feel like you have to impress the people around you.

“You are kind when nobody is around, when nobody is looking.

“It is the choices you make daily that affect yourself and your family, your friends and the people around you.

“It becomes the memory of you, the thing that people look back on when you are at the end of your days.”

Austin Green spoke to The Telegraph in support of the Left Write Hook charity initiative, which empowers survivors of child sexual abuse and trauma.

He was introduced to the charity by an American friend from the entertainment business, a survivor of child abuse herself, who moved to Australia several years ago.

The charity has a wait list of many hundreds of people eager to take part in its non-contact boxing and creative writing program, and the actor is keen use his name to help raise as much money as possible to help expand Left Write Hook’s operations.

“I want my kids and my grandkids to talk about what a great person I was with people, much more than the projects that I was in or the money that I made or the house that we had or the car, none of that. My legacy is the person that I was.”

The 51-year-old is married to Australian performer and Dancing With The Stars judge Sharna Burgess.

Based in LA, the couple are currently in Sydney as she is filming the new season of the reality show.

Austin Green is to be the star attraction at fan events in Melbourne and Sydney over the coming week, including at Cremorne’s Hayden Orpheum on Thursday.

He has been acting for four decades with nearly 50 film credits to his name, and many dozens more on the silver screen.

But he has also been known for his personal life.

“At the end of it all, yeah, I am an actor and I’ve been doing it forever,” he reflected.

“But I am a father, a family man first, that is the absolute most important thing to me in the world.

“I feel incredibly fortunate for the fact that people give a s..t about what it is I speak about — I don’t understand the soap box but I will use it to the best of my ability.”

Asked what fans tell him they most know him for, he said: “90210, Desperate Housewives, they know that I was the guy that was married to Megan Fox. I honestly hope now that at the end of it all, people know me as the dude who was genuinely kind and thoughtful.”
