Bishop’s shock admission at 35 year milestone: ‘Crisis of confidence’
More than three decades in any job is an achievement. In entertainment, you could say it is a badge of honour yet veteran reporter Angela Bishop is as excited now as she when she started.

In 35 years treading the red carpet to showcase celebrities, showbiz stalwart Angela Bishop has become as recognisable as many of the famous faces she interviews.
Notching-up the milestone with Channel 10 today, the endearingly “normal” 56-year-old has always chosen decency over diva antics.
“As part of my job I stand next to some of the most stunning people on the planet, there’s no doubt about it, and I often wonder to myself, what kind of idiot does that and puts her face up next to theirs?” Bishop told The Daily Telegraph.
“But I know when they see two people on the screen, where everyone’s eyes are is on the beautiful person.
“I do sometimes get a little crisis of confidence and I have learnt to just put that to one side, and know that my job is to be there to ask the questions, to report and tell the story.
“And I know I can do that well, because I’ve been doing it for a long time and I know I can get something out of people that hopefully they haven’t said before, or people haven’t heard before.”
The daughter of retired politician Bronwyn Bishop has seen the good, the bad and the ugly of the entertainment game.
Bishop, mum to beloved 16-year-old daughter Amelia, takes the job very seriously, and has done so since first walking through the doors at Ten’s then North Ryde studios in 1989.
“There’s heaps of research involved,” the always-prepared reporter said.
“There is a lot more to it than people might think.
“But also, what a privilege that I get to have a job like this, where I get to talk to people who are making a difference in the world of the arts, so you won’t hear me whinge.”
She continued: “When I need to make sure I am on point, I have my energy drinks — that’s actually my secret to travelling — pop a melatonin on the flight to sleep and then an energy drink when I wake up, and I am ready to go.
“It is sort of like Judy Garland but a milder version.”
