BARRY Hall and his family are believed to have taken a massive financial and emotional hit in the wake of his abrupt sacking by Triple M and numerous other sponsors.
One week after making the comment which ultimately ended his radio career, the AFL star was photographed seeking comfort from his family in Queensland.
The former Sydney Swans skipper was spotted having breakfast with partner Lauren Brant and their one-year-old son Miller on the Gold Coast, with Brant telling Confidential the couple want to “get on with life”.
“We’ve just been enjoying time together as a family, focusing on what’s important,” the former Hi-5 performer said.
While the couple are trying to remain positive, it is believed they are struggling financially and the ordeal has taken an emotional toll on the new parents.
Since the on-air scandal, Triple M has been criticised for failing to use the dump button, with some suggesting management weren’t initially offended by the remarks, but decided to act as public outrage became apparent.
Questions have also been asked as to why Hall’s co-hosts weren’t reprimanded for laughing at their colleague’s remarks.
Triple M took Hall off air immediately and sacked him after he made the crude comments about a procedure related to pregnancy during a pre-match program.
Then on Wednesday, Victorian fashion brand Hammersmith announced it had terminated its relationship with the former footy star.
Both Hall and Brant have since apologised, with Brant condemning the attack on her partner saying he was “hurting” and that they had a “long and honest conversation about how his actions have warranted a national response”.
“We both know there is a problem and understand that people are trying to change it but solely vilifying Barry for this incident is not going to fix it. You have the wrong man for that,” she said.
