You could say unknown Sydney fashion designer Olivia Haidenbauer has won the social media lottery thanks to Kim Kardashian.

Six months after launching her swim and festival wear brand, Ooh the Label, the 21-year-old has scored the ultimate endorsement by way of Kardashian sharing two images of herself wearing a $138 Haidenbauer bikini creation to her nearly 220 million Instagram followers.

Kardashian reportedly charges anywhere between $500,000 and $1 million for a single endorsed post on social media.

Haidenbauer however got her promotion for the cost of the product and postage, simply by being persistent in getting her wares to Kardashian through a friend of a friend who works for the American fashionista, reality star and business woman.

“It is just so crazy,” an ecstatic Haidenbauer said. “I put all of my savings into this. I couldn’t sleep for a few nights after she posted. I didn’t know what to do. My mum woke me up in the morning screaming and I thought she was screaming at me because the dog had gone to the toilet inside but it was because Kim Kardashian had posted. I looked at my phone and therewere all of these sales coming through.”

Clare Winterbourn, of Born Bred Talent, said to have Kardashian endorse the product was a major coup for any brand.

“It literally doesn’t get any bigger than that,” Winterbourn told The Daily Telegraph.

“It is priceless advertising and to be fair, shows that tenacity and persistence can pay off.”

Haidenbauer, who dropped out of school in Year 11, credits the pandemic for giving her the nudge she needed into fashion after losing her job in a call centre prompted her to start the label.

Kardashian was poolside in Palm Springs enjoying an “extended holiday” with actor gal pal LaLa Anthony when the pair posed in the matching swimsuits.

Anthony herself has nearly 12 million followers on Instagram.

Haidenbauer estimates sales of the brand have increased 700 per cent thanks to the promotion.

She has also been approached to show at LA Fashion Week.

“I think people might take me a bit more seriously now and see that my brand has potential,” said Haidenbauer, who bears more than a slight resemblance to Kardashian.

“She is such an incredible business woman. I have looked up to her for a long time.”
