ASHER Keddie admits she doesn’t always get it right.
Juggling a busy work life as one of Australia’s top actors and being a mum isn’t easy.
“I’m not juggling it all brilliantly, I’m doing my best,” Keddie tells the latest issue of InStyle, in stores on Thursday.
“No respect (is) given to the complexity of (a woman’s life). It’s just bullshit. We shouldn’t expect women to have it all and manage it all and I certainly don’t want to be portrayed in that way — I think it’s a very negative message to send women.”
The Offspring star will be seen on the big screen from January 18, when her new film, Swinging Safari, opens in cinemas nationally.
Keddie and artist partner Vincent Fantauzzo are parents to two-year-old son, Valentino, and she is stepmother to his son from a previous relationship, Luca.
“It’s really the most creative I’ve ever felt, and the most confident I’ve felt with pushing ahead with my own stories from this point on,” Keddie, 43, said of her relationship with Fantauzzo.
“We’re growing up as partners and artists and really starting to appreciate that we have a different perspective on things.
“(And) it’s become evident that our different perspectives are complementary to the other’s work.”
