Kyle and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson have left KIIS FM fans fuming after disappearing from the air waves this week without a word as to why.
The hosting duo played repeats of their old breakfast shows on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
“Third day of repeats, I’m switching to Ben Fordham,” one fan commented on Instagram, with the number one rating 2GB host cheekily replying: “I’m switching over to Ben Fordham too!”.
“I wish I could get your salary for the amount of repeats you throw down our necks!” another disgruntled listener wrote.
A third chimed in: “Kyle shouldn’t take on TV shows unless he can keep up his radio commitments as well.”
There was no indication that prerecorded segments were being played, but devoted fans picked up on Thursday’s episode being from July 2023, meanwhile the station staged a performance by Guy Sebastian and Sam Fischer at Flinders Street station in Melbourne.
Monday to Wednesday’s shows were cut-up and repackaged segments from the last several weeks, including some “dug up old audio from an interview [Kyle and Jackie] did with Rebel Wilson in 2014,” on Tuesday.
“Your producers aren’t at all creative with these repeats and ‘best of’ shows by slapping together a few segments from the past few weeks. At least give us some content from years ago!” one person commented.
It comes as Sandilands wrapped up the live finale of Australian Idol on Monday night, alongside fellow judges Marcia Hines and Amy Shark.
Meanwhile, Henderson spent her weekend in Melbourne watching the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix with Besties business partner Gemma O’Neill.
“How about turning up to do your real job?” an unhappy listener commented on the photo Henderson shared to Instagram with Beau Ryan at the event.
The Kyle and Jackie O Show will be heard in Melbourne from Monday April 29, as part of the landmark 10-year deal Sandilands and Henderson signed last November with ARN worth $200m.
Back in Sydney, they are sliding in the radio ratings. KIIS FM’s audience share dropped 1.0 to 10.5 per cent in the most recent GfK radio survey, putting them behind 2GB and smoothfm in the all important breakfast time slot.
