Shocking moment ‘frail’ music legend, 75, falls over live on stage after throwing his mic into crowd

Fans are in shock after music legend Billy Joel appeared “frail” before throwing a mic stand into the audience and collapsing on stage.

Iconic hit maker Billy Joel is still performing live after a career spanning decades and hits like Uptown Girl and Piano Man.

At the age of 75, Joel is famous for putting everything into his live performances.

But a huge crowd in Connecticut’s famed venue Mohegan Sun were left stunned after Joel took a painful fall.

In a video from the event posted online, the immaculately suited singer can be seen as he takes a nasty fall on stage, leaving fans and onlookers concerned for his health.

The accident happened after Joel belted out It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me.

As he sang, he improvised with his microphone stand and, looking unsteady, threw it off the stage.

The music legend lost his footing and fell down backwards before his band rushed to help him.

After regaining his balance, Joel staggered to his feet and continued his performance and seemed in good spirits after his fall.

But one fan who attended the show said he looked frail and was even “hobbling”, The Sun reports.

“At one point, he was using the microphone stand as a cane. I was really very concerned about him throughout the concert.

“Before he fell, I said to my friend ‘he’s going to fall’ and then he did.

“The venue gasped when he hit the floor.

“He definitely looked thrown off but somehow he managed to finish the show with a final song.

“When I was younger, I was a massive fan of Billy Joel, so this is very concerning.”

The incident comes after fans have posted to social media praising the stars performances in a strong of concert dates.

On February 22, one fan took to X after attending one of Billy’s shows.

“I’ve been to a lot of concerts in the past few years playing catch up on my favourite performers but Billy Joel blew it out of the box today at Mohegan Sun, which is an amazing venue,” they said.

The following day, another concertgoer took to X to share their thoughts, writing: “Fantastic show! He’s always been one of my favorites! He can still hit those high notes and work the stage!”

Joel is currently undertaking an engagement of global stadium concerts.

He has not released a statement about his onstage mishap.
