You could say it is history repeating itself behind the scenes on breakfast TV show, Sunrise.
Executive producer Michael Pell has again found love in the control room at Seven’s Martin Place Studios in Sydney.
Confidential can reveal Pell is dating staff member Daniel Burgess-Wise, who sits near him as director on the top rating breakfast show.
Interestingly it was in that very building that Pell formed a relationship, then as a junior employee, with his former boss, ex Sunrise chief Adam Boland, back in 2006 with that romance lasting until 2009.
When contacted, Seven confirmed the pair were in a relationship but said it was a private matter that did not impact their work. Pell too did not comment when contacted.
Baby-faced star on the rise Burgess-Wise, 28, scored the coveted directing job when former director Ken Moore retired in 2018. It is understood Pell and Burgess-Wise began dating after he started the job.
Prior to Moore’s departure, Burgess-Wise worked on a casual basis on the show. He also works on other programs at the network.
Their social media accounts are filled with happy snaps of Pell and Burgess-Wise’s travels together with the show, pre COVID of course.
The shots included broadcasts from Hamilton Island and Hawaii.
Both Pell and Burgess-Wise have also shared a number of images with the famous faces who have appeared on the show, including Hugh Jackman, Katy Perry and Ava Max.
Sunrise of course is hosted by David Koch and Samantha Armytage and has long been the market leader in breakfast.
Prior to Sunrise, Burgess-Wise worked across different networks as a director, including on projects at SBS, Nine and Fox Sports, as well as with various production companies.
Pell, 38, meanwhile got his start at Channel 7 as producer in the news department and was promoted to the executive producer role in 2009.
