Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher have announced their divorce after 13 years of marriage.

The superstar comedian and Australian actor announced the split on social media in co-ordinated posts with a photo of them dressed in tennis outfits.

“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down,” the posts read.

“In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritised our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change.

“We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”

The Hollywood couple’s high profile split comes amid shock claims made by Rebel Wilson who has accused Baron Cohen of sexual harassment during the filming of The Brothers Grimsby in 2016.

According to The Sun, a source has allegedly now said Wilson’s book was “a catalyst” for Fisher to publicly reveal they had ended their marriage.

The source told The Sun: “Rebel’s book was a catalyst in Isla deciding to announce this to the world.

“She’s got her own career and reputation to worry about.

“Those close to her said it was starting to get embarrassing with all of the allegations that were spilling out of Rebel’s book.

“So she felt as though it was the right thing to do to inform everyone of their decision.

“Sacha, on the other hand did not want that.

“He has been making as though it’s business as usual before they made this announcement.”

Another source close to the couple said they had been “having difficulties for some time and have battled to make things work” but there is still “love” there.

Baron Cohen or Fisher have not officially confirmed the allegation about Wilson’s memoir being linked to their split in any way.

But Baron Cohen, 52, has strenuously denied the claims made by Wilson in her memoir titled Rebel Rising, where she said it “felt like Sacha Baron Cohen had sexually harassed me” during filming in South Africa.

Wilson has also claimed Baron Cohen has tried to stop her book being published. Its Australian release has been delayed.

A spokesman for Baron Cohen stated: “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of Grimsby.”

Baron Cohen and Fisher first met in 2001 and were married in 2010.

They have two daughters, Olive, 15, and Elula, 13, and a son, Montgomery, 8. They have been living between Sydney, Perth, Los Angeles and London.

The couple attended different Oscar parties last month. In February, the couple were chatting publicly about their relationship when Fisher, 48, who grew up in Perth, talked about her plans for Valentine’s Day on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

“Every year Sacha does give me a card that’s like, ‘Happy Valentine’s from … ’ and then there’s a massive question mark.,” she said.

“As if anybody else would send me … as if I have any other Valentines. I’m a mother of three. I mean, I’m always like, ‘Ooooh. So many men.’”

In July last year, the couple travelled to Greece together with Fisher sharing a photo of the pair enjoying a passionate kiss.

Back in January 2022, Isla revealed it was love at first sight for the pair in a rare interview about their marriage.

“I totally loved him right away,” she said.

“I mean I knew it was definitely love at first sight.”

She also spoke about the challenge of marriage in Hollywood.

“I think by Hollywood standards it’s probably 200 years,” she said.

“I feel like it’s a Golden Jubilee or something. Everyone was congratulating me. It is a fun ride. I feel so lucky to have Sacha in my life. Now we have this beautiful family and we survived lockdown together, which you know, it is not easy for any couple.”

Fisher said their union was based on “a shared sense of humour and a willingness to be married”, in an interview with Marie Claire.

Fisher has also previously gushed about the chance of working with Wilson on their 2012 film Bachelorette.

“I think we got incredibly lucky with Rebel because that character, without her being so sympathetic, we wouldn’t really have cared about the dress, we wouldn’t have cared about the story,” Fisher told The Huffington Post at the time.

Wilson was equally effusive in her praise of Fisher.

“Of course, when I heard Kirsten Dunst and Isla Fisher and Lizzy Caplan were the other three girls, I jumped at the chance.,” she told The Huffington Post.
