Russell Crowe was playing his cards right on the set of his new action movie on Saturday, demanding a frantic pace as he made up for time lost to Covid restrictions.
Crowe is starring in and directing Poker Face, and his cast and crew descended on the lower north shore to resume filming which has had to be extended after being shut down in August last year.
Crowe shot take after take of the big-budget action flick, the centre of attention from his more than 40 busy cast and crew.
Saturday’s scenes took place at a home in Waverton, with traffic control taking over the suburban street.
The film is produced by Australian actor Addam Bramich and Gary Hamilton, and has been shot at a number of NSW landmarks, as well as Fox Studios and the $100 million Crown Residence penthouse.
Key scenes to be filmed in Sydney in coming months include a rollicking car chase in and around the Harbour Tunnel which will involve co-stars Liam Hemsworth and American rapper RZA.
Hemsworth’s sister-in-law Elsa Pataky is also expected to make a cameo.
Crowe stars in the lead role of Jake, a grizzled tech billionaire.
Poker Face tells the tale of how Jake gathers his childhood friends to his estate for what turns into a high-stakes game of poker, and finds himself the subject of a violent home invasion.
