Two months after leaving Sydney for a new life in Singapore, Roxy Jacenko has finally found her feet. However it hasn’t been smooth sailing.

“I literally cried every day for the first four weeks — and I am not much of a crier — it’s been so, so hard,” she told Saturday Confidential.

“I have lived in Australia for 43 years, so making the move to another country has been a serious challenge — mostly because I ran a tight ship at home, everything was in order, anything I needed to do was like a well-oiled machine, here, it’s a different ball game.

“It was hotel living for six weeks which, while it sounds super-glam, became really miserable.

“I struggled to get a visa, the kids almost missed the first day of school as you cannot commence pre-having visas, and I am still yet to even get a bank account!”

Settling in to Singapore has been tougher than expected for Roxy Jacenko.

Efficiency is one of Jacenko’s strong points — not so much the Singaporeans.

“There is a rule for a rule in Singapore, so everything takes a lot longer than we Australians are used to — I laugh and say ‘people think Fiji time is a thing, well they haven’t heard about Singapore time!

“I had to laugh when I was having some of the TVs installed here, I had eight people sent for the job — I was like, there are three TVs, how an earth could I need eight people to hang each TV?

“We have the most efficient tradies in the world in Australia.”

She might not be in Australia any more, after moving with her two young children to be with her husband Oliver Curtis, however Jacenko is still staying in touch with her fans and followers, and has announced a “brand bootcamp” online course.

“This is a black book insight into my 18 years of experience of building businesses — both personal and professional,” she said.

“Its one-on-one time with me and my playbook in both video lessons and live chats, weekly.

“I do this twice a year, for four weeks, it’s important that they remain exclusive.

“While I like sharing ‘how I did it’, it’s still something that I want to keep exclusive, so while we could be running monthly we have kept it to twice annually.

“It also means I can really give the participants more of me and my insights on each of our live weekly in-person calls.”

“It’s exciting to see people come from all sorts of levels — start-up phase to established businesses — who are looking to up the ante and take things to the next level, and really help to push them to get there using my experience and mistakes along the course of my career.”
