OPSM’s cheeky nod to Liam Hemsworth’s split from Miley Cyrus in new TV campaign

It’s certainly been a long week for Liam Hemsworth after his shock split from wife of less than a year, Miley Cyrus. But the Aussie star has had the last laugh.

OPSM have given a cheeky nod to new ambassador Liam Hemsworth’s shock split from megastar Miley Cyrus this week by releasing a behind-the-scenes video of the Aussie superstar, having fun to a tune which features the lyrics: “my baby’s just gone away”.

Shrugging his shoulders and telling the camera he needs “me time,” the retro clip plays up the heavy news of the power couple’s separation which dominated headlines just as the eyecare campaign was due to drop.

The 29-year-old Aussie filmed the commercial last month, with the agency’s editors clearly having a bit of mischief with the outtakes and lyrics that include: “she packed up her bags and threw them on the 219 [bus].”

Hemsworth has used social media to wish his estranged wife “health and happiness moving forward” and declined to offer further comment; while Cyrus has been involved in a Twitter war of words with reality star Brody Jenner, whose wife the singer has been snapped kissing on a boat in the Mediterranean.

The couple, who were married in December last year, confirmed they were planning to divorce last weekend, just as Hemsworth was set to star in a new advertising campaign for OPSM, with the tagline: “Life. Focused.”

All eyes have been trained on the actor and his controversial wife ever since — with Hemsworth retreating to spend time with his brother Chris and family in Byron Bay.
