Ryan Moloney has revealed details of his final scene as we ask TV and theatre writers, Neighbours stars and fans what they would like to see for the show’s last hurrah.

Neighbours star Ryan Moloney, who features in the finale episode of the iconic Channel 10 soap, reveals he burst into tears after shooting his last-ever scene.
“This might sound corny, but knowing what’s in the finale, I’d have to say (as a fan) I’d be pretty happy with it. It’s a good and fitting end to 37 years,” Moloney, who plays popular character Toadie Rebecchi told the Herald Sun.
“The last line that I got to say is so poignant, that as soon as I read it, I burst into tears. It was like, ‘Oh my God, how amazing this is my last line?’ It was heartbreaking.”
The final two episodes were written by Neighbours producer Jason Herbison.
Speculation is rife about who will star and what will happen when the curtain falls on Ramsay St on Thursday. Neighbours alumni, including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Guy Pearce, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Peter O’Brien, Melissa Bell, Olympia Valance, Jodi Gordon, will return to the show for its final week on air.

Eddie Perfect
Eddie Perfect, actor, singer and co-creator of Broadway musical Beetlejuice: “The obvious thing would be for the entire suburb of Erinsborough to explode. There would be a massive explosion, then it would cut to a news item about a faulty gas main causing a disaster. So Erinsborough no longer exists, and everybody associated with Erinsborough happens to be there at the time. Every person from every period, every character is wiped from the face of the Earth. Kylie, Jason, everyone. It seems like you can’t come back from that at all, but when they do, it was all a dream”.
Matt Preston
Matt Preston, broadcaster, food critic, former Neighbours columnist, and Neighbours guest star: “As long as Jason and Kylie are there, that’s all that matters, really. I wrote about Neighbours in the UK for five years, so I want to see Cody and the Motor Mothers come back and play a live show. I want to see Annalise come back and read some of her poetry. I think the last moment should be — because it’s been such a central part of the story, but so up and down — I want to see a loving kiss between Jackie Woodburne and Alan Fletcher. Dr Karl and Susan, the final frame of Neighbours, having a loving moment together for all the nightmares they’ve been through.”
Fifi Box
Fifi Box, Fox FM broadcaster and former Neighbours guest star: “I can’t wait to see Scott and Charlene, and Guy Pearce coming back as Mike is just huge!
“I really hope the last episode is just one big love-in, I want to see the whole cast out on the street playing street cricket and having a laugh. And if Madge and Bouncer can be brought back from the dead that would make it complete!”
Rhonda Burchmore
Rhonda Burchmore, actor and singer: “I want to see Charlene and Scott, they’ve both been married, they’ve both had their ups and downs. But I want to see them as an older couple living the dream.”
Peter Helliar
Peter Helliar, broadcaster, writer and creator How To Stay Married and It’s A Date: “Surely Scott and Charlene have returned to renew their vows. A fundraiser at Lassiter’s pays for Angry Anderson to sing live in the chapel. My dream is for the final scene to feature sentimental force ghost shot but instead of Obi Wan, Anakin and Yoda it will be Daphne, Todd and Bouncer.”

Brian Walsh, executive director of drama, Foxtel Group: “I think the finale that fans of the early years would love to see Scott and Charlene returning to Erinsborough with their family to attend a house auction.
“Under the hammer would be one of the homes on Ramsay St and the successful bidder would be their daughter and her husband and their newborn. The story of the Robinson’s family on Ramsay Street continues, with a new generation to continue the tradition on the street.”
Paul Calleja
Paul Calleja, writer The Front Bar and Before The Game: “An unauthorised experiment in a year 10 science class at Erinsborough High School goes horribly wrong and leads to an underground leakage of dangerous chemicals. This, in turn, causes a giant sinkhole which swallows all of Ramsey St and its residents. After journeying through the centre of the Earth, the Neighbours characters emerge from a disused mine shaft on Home And Away before taking over the town and converting the surf club into ‘Lassiters at Summer Bay’.”

Ryan Moloney, Neighbours star: “I couldn’t imagine anything better than (the existing finale), apart from, if Toadie ever leaves, I’d want it to be some kind of terrorist attack, where Toadie jumps on the bomb and saves Ramsay St. That’s how I would love Toadie to go out”.
