Kylie Minogue makes huge Aussie announcement

It’s a good day to be a Kylie Minogue fan, with the Aussie pop icon making several massive announcements today.

Kylie Minogue reportedly set to announce world tour

It’s a good day to be a Kylie Minogue fan, with the Aussie pop icon announcing new music – and an Australian tour, her first in six years.

Minogue also today announced the release of Tension II, a companion album to last year’s chart-topping album Tension, home to the hit Padam Padam.

The new album, out October 18, will pull together recent high-profile collaboration singles like Edge of Saturday Night (with The Blessed Madonna), My Oh My (with Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo) and Midnight Ride (with Orville Peck) along with nine brand-new tracks.

A new single, Lights Camera Action, is out next Friday.

Minogue’s Australian tour will mark the first time she’s toured her home country since March 2019. Since then she’s released two albums, Disco and Tension, but has only played an exclusive (and expensive) Las Vegas residency and select festival dates, including a memorable headlining slot at World Pride in Sydney last year.

Speaking of, one of Minogue’s Sydney dates presents an unfortunate clash for her huge LGBTQ fanbase: She’s booked to play Qudos Bank Arena in Olympic Park on the same night as the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade and party.

Announcing the tour on social media on social media overnight, Minogue tweeted: “You have no idea how hard it has been to keep all the planning and preparation from you. But it’s time and I. CAN’T. WAIT!”

The tour also sees an upgrade in venue size from Kylie’s last Aussie jaunt, with the star back playing arenas in Australia for the first time since the Kiss Me Once tour exactly 10 years earlier.

Call it the Padam effect: The lead single from Tension was Kylie’s first genuine crossover hit in years, becoming a viral sensation and a platinum-selling top 20 hit in this country.

The tour news shouldn’t be a huge surprise to Kylie fans, with the woman herself letting slip that it was in the works during a July radio interview.

“The answer is yes! We’re just locking down details,” she told The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick. “Maybe I wasn’t meant to say that, but yes!”
