Aussie singer The Kid Laroi has postponed his upcoming tour in Australia just two months out.
The ARIA winner was due to kick off his The First Time Tour in February, where he was scheduled to perform in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and the Gold Coast, but he has since pushed the shows back until October 2024.
“Hi guys. We’ve had to push back the Australian leg of the tour to October,” he wrote on Instagram Stories overnight. “The tour will now end off in Australia.”
The 20-year-old, whose real name is Charlton Howard, said the delay was due to logistics beyond his control.
“I have a really big surprise and special guest that we just couldn’t finalise in time for February, among a bunch of other logistical stuff,” he added.
“I wanna give you the best show that I possibly can and make everyone back home proud. I promise that it will be worth it, and I will keep you guys posted on the special guests and everything else that is to come.”
Kid Laroi, who has been nominated for a Grammy and Billboard award in the US, then reassured concertgoers that their tickets would still be valid come October.
“I love you guys so so much, and to everyone that has already bought tickets, they are still valid for October. I’m truly sorry, but I promise I got you and it’s for the better!” he wrote.
Despite the tour name, this will not be the first time Kid Laroi has toured Australia. He was here in May and June 2022 for his The End Of The World Tour, during which he also postponed two shows in Melbourne and one in Brisbane due to illness.
“Brisbane – the doctor has told me that I can’t perform tomorrow night & I need one more day to get healthy,” the star shared on Instagram at the time.
“It sucks that I have to do this and I hate disappointing you all, but I know I have to do it in order for me to give you the show that you want to see. I promise I will give you 1000% when I get back on that stage.”
Kid Laroi’s latest tour postponement comes a few months after he reportedly split from his American girlfriend, 19-year-old model Katarina Deme. He would later confirm the reports and also delete all traces of her from his social media.
The singer also shared a cryptic post in August in the wake of the break-up.
“I’m sorry I’ve been a bit silent. Been going through a lot recently,” his post began. “I’m good but I’ve just needed space to focus on processing my feelings & work.”
“Here to let you know that a lot of videos have been shot these past couple weeks, I shot the album cover & I’m working with the label to get you a date.”
