NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal to perform as alter ego DJ Diesel at two Australian nightclubs

Shaquille O’Neal has put time aside for a surprising activity during his first visit to Australia in more than two decades.

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal will make a return as his DJ alter ego in one-night-only performances at two Australian nightclubs this month.

It will be the hall-of-famer’s first visit to the country in more than two decades and will include a series of public appearances across Sydney and Melbourne.

“I’m really excited for this long-awaited tour to come to Australia,” O’Neal said in a statement.

“It’s my first time back in such a long time and I can’t wait to see you Aussies down under.”

The 7-foot-1 basketball great made his debut as DJ Diesel with his 1993 platinum album Shaq Diesel.

O’Neal made his anticipated return to the international festival circuit with appearances at Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland and Imagine.

Tickets are selling out quick for a gig at Melbourne nightclub 170 Russell on August 24 where he will be supported by yscu, Big Boss, Miicha, CHENDA, and Balaram.

He has already sold out a second event at Star’s Marquee nightclub in Sydney on August 27.

Five lucky fans will be able to win a chance to go up against Shaq in a live shoot out at the Star to see who can sink the most baskets.

The winner of the shootout will get to participate in a personal meet and greet with the star.

O’Neal is a four-time NBA champion playing for six teams over his 19-year career including Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.
