Liam Gallagher confirms December festival and side shows as he preps new solo album

Too much Gallagher brothers is never enough. Both Noel and Liam will be touring Australia before the end of the year. But fans hoping for a thawing of the long-running sibling spat shouldn’t hold their breath.

Oasis frontman reveals what really happened night of band's split

Alas, the great Australian face-off between Liam and Noel Gallagher is not to be.

As he preps his second solo album Why Me? Why Not for release on September 20, Liam Gallagher has confirmed a raft of concerts and festival appearances kicking off on December 6 in Brisbane.

That’s just a week after his older brother Noel finishes his lap around the country, opening for his good mate Bono’s band U2.

The war of words between the brothers has been particularly volatile this year as both spruik their respective solo ventures and take any opportunity to fire another volley of barbs via the British media.

Fans hoping for a thawing of the long-running sibling spat to facilitate the mythical Oasis reunion can probably stop holding their breath now as Liam says he doesn’t “see it happening”.

The seminal Oasis debut album Definitely Maybe turned 25 last week, again fuelling fervent fan entreaties for the Gallaghers to sort out their cold war.

“I am happy in my world and (Noel) is happy in his world,” he said.

The Foo Fighters even joined the chorus of fans begging the Britpop rock heroes to reconcile, urging fans to start a petition during their recent headlining performance at the Reading festival.

“‘Let’s make sure they never get back together’, you can start that petition. And I’m sure Noel would be right behind you,” Liam responded.

“(The band) happened, made great music, should never have split up but the time has passed.”

And he is probably right about the reunion window shutting for good.

Noel’s three records with his High Flying Birds have all reached No. 1 in the UK.

Liam’s debut solo album As You Were also hit the top spot when it was released in 2017, although his two records with post-Oasis band Beady Eye peaked at No. 2 and No.3.

Liam Gallagher will perform at the Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane on December 6, Fairgrounds Festival, Berry on December 7, Enmore Theatre, Sydney on December 9, Margaret Court Arena on December 11, Bird in Hand, Adelaide on December 14 and Fremantle Arts centre on December 17.

Tickets on sale from 10am on Thursday.
