Florence and the Machine book Aussie arenas for 2023

British pop star Florence and The Machine joins the competition for the Australian concert dollar with Dance Fever tour on sale this week.

Florence falls over on stage

British art rock stars Florence and the Machine has revealed her Australian tour plans for March next year as the great concert comeback floods the market with hundreds of thousands of tickets.

In just the past month, Harry Styles released tickets for his six Love On Tour stadium shows kicking off in February 2023, Jimmy Barnes announced his Soul Deep 30 anniversary arena shows and rap star Stormzy finally shared the rescheduled November dates for his Heavy Is The Head tour.

A raft of homegrown live favourites including Keith Urban, Amy Shark, The Angels, Spiderbait, Amy Shark, Sampa The Great, Boy and Bear, Gretta Ray and Ben Lee also put new tours on sale or added extra dates to their tours.

Other internationals to recently announce their returns to Australian stages this year include British singer songwriter Calum Scott and Canadian Tate McRae.

The concert posters are fighting for hoarding space with festivals also back in the announcement swing last week. Listen Out will return in September with Disclosure, Young Thug and Tove Lo while Spilt Milk will host Flume, The Wombats, G Flip, Genesis Owusu and Spacey Jane in November.

Florence and the Machine will kick off their Dance Fever tour at RAC Arena, Perth on March 4 and then head to Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne on March 8; Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney on March 13 and Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 17.

It will be the first tour from Florence Welch and her band in four years, with the show announcement neatly timed ahead of the release of their fifth album Dance Fever on May 13.

Even as each tour and festival announcement fuels excited fan chatter online, most official outlets still have tickets for all the big gigs available on their sites as competition for the concert dollar heats up.

Despite growing consumer confidence in the return of live music in recent weeks, ongoing Covid infections and cost of living pressures could slow down ticket sales in the coming months.

But the promoters will keep up the tour hit parade with Coldplay teasing fans about when they will bring their Music Of The Spheres world tour here and Lil Nas X is also expected to add shows down under to his global victory lap.

A Frontier Members pre-sale for the Dance Fever tour by Florence and the Machine opens on May 4 with general tickets on sale from 11am on May 6.
