Fans outraged over biggest 2025 Grammy nominations snubs: ‘Sabotaged’

As Beyoncé and Taylor Swift break Grammy Award nominations, artists such as Ariana Grande and Dua Lipa were overlooked – and fans are outraged.

The 2025 Grammy nominations have officially been announced, and while Beyoncé and Taylor Swift fans are rejoicing over their record-breaking nominations, other music fans are outraged their favourite artists have been snubbed.

This year’s most notable exclusions include some big names who are usually front and centre of the ceremony, including Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat and Ariana Grande.

All artists released music between September 16, 2023 and August 30, 2024, making them eligible for nomination. But for some reason they were ignored in the top categories or were shut-out entirely, and thus likely be absent from the Grammys red carpet when the winners are revealed at the February 3 ceremony in LA.

Dua Lipa was among those overlooked, despite being a Grammys favourite since she won Best New Artist in 2019. She earned another Grammy win with her sophomore album Future Nostalgia, taking out Best Pop Vocal Album in 2021, beating out fellow nominees Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Taylor Swift.

Last year, Dua Lipa’s Dance the Night song from the Barbie movie earned her two more noms: Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media.

But she was not recognised this year with her album Radical Optimism – which features the banging dance tracks Houdini and Illusion – failing to earn a single nomination.

“No nominations for Dua Lipa is a f**kin disgrace. Houdini is a masterpiece,” one fan lamented, while another wrote, “The Grammys do not deserve @DUALIPA. F**k them.”

And this from another supporter: “Dua Lipa not getting a Grammy nomination? Feels like a huge miss. With all her hits and impact, how did she get overlooked?”

Megan Thee Stallion was also overlooked with her song Hiss, which has been called rap’s diss song of the year. Yet, she failed to land any recognition in the Best Rap Song category this year.

Stallion has won three Grammy Awards in the past, all of them at the 2020 ceremony during which she took home Best New Artist, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for Savage (Remix) featuring Beyoncé. In 2022, she was also up for Best Rap Performance for Thot Sh*t and Album of the Year for Montero.

“How they gonna snub megan thee stallion when she started 2024 with a bang? Hiss and cobra visually and musically is some of her strongest work. just bullsh*t,” one fan tweeted.

Perhaps the biggest snub of all goes to Ariana Grande.

The singer and actress has been kicking goals on both the singing and acting fronts lately, thanks to her role in the upcoming movie musical Wicked, which she recently premiered in Sydney during a whirlwind press tour.

Grande was back to her best with her album Eternal Sunshine, which she released in March this year – her first new album in more than three years.

The album saw her singles Yes, And? and We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for your Love) reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Although the singer received three nominations this year – Best Dance Pop Recording for Yes, And?, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her The Boy Is Mine remix with Brandy and Monica, and Best Pop Vocal Album for Eternal Sunshine – Grande was absent from the major categories: Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.

“Ariana Grande was snubbed in ROTY, SOTY and AOTY and it’s the biggest snub in the history of this pathetic award show,” one fan raged, while others commented:

“ariana grande not getting nominated in the main categories is a JOKE.”

“Eternal Sunshine got snubbed in the AOTY category. another year of ariana not being given the respect she deserves in the music industry. she is really being sabotaged and blackballed somebody save my sis.”
