Fans flee Iggy Azalea and one-time huge seller Katy Perry as new singles flop
KATY Perry’s decision to rush-release a song to distract from a flop single has backfired and perhaps no-one knows Iggy Azalea has a new tune.

IGGY Azalea and Katy Perry‘s new singles have both tanked on this week’s ARIA charts.
Perry rush-released Swish Swish as her new single after a lukewarm reaction to the divisive Bon Appetit.
However this week Swish Swish entered the ARIA singles chart at No. 37 on just 4794 sales.
The song, featuring rapper Nicki Minaj, had major media exposure after Perry admitted it is her statement on the feud with Taylor Swift. She also engaged in cringe-worthy stunts.

Bon Appetit, which entered the ARIA singles chart at No. 35 a month ago before dropping has returned to No. 35 — it sold 5016 copies last week after picking up more radio play.
Perry’s previous two singles (Rise, Chained To the Rhythm) both entered in the Top 5.
Swish Swish entered the UK charts at No. 40, while Bon Appetit has finally entered the US chart at No. 59.
Perry releases her fifth album, Witness, on June 9 and begins a tour of the US and Canada in July. She is giving the album free to anyone who buys tickets to the tour.
The singer, who is playing gigs in London and has also reportedly signed a $33 million deal to be the anchor judge for American Idol, Tweeted on the weekend about being ‘cooked’ by the media.

The singer confused fans with an odd online video where she states “Can you really see me? My name is Katherine Hudson. I’m vulnerable and strong. I’m a woman and artist. I’m liberated, goofy and I’m not always right. I’m Katy Perry and I’m not just one thing.”
One fan commented “You’re better than this” while another questioned if she was “going through a phase”.
Meanwhile Azalea’s new single Switch limped into the ARIA chart at No. 180 with just 1029 sales.

The song, a collaboration with Brazilian singer Anitta, is a more commercial offering after her previous release Mo Bounce.
Mo Bounce peaked at No. 63 in Australia in March, No. 53 in the UK and didn’t even make the US Top 100.
Switch might get a boost when the video is released — Mo Bounce has had 37 million views.
Azalea’s performance of Switch on the Jimmy Fallon show last week has already got two million viewers — cleverly tapping into Anitta’s international fanbase judging by the You Tube comments.
Azalea’s belated second album Digital Distortion is scheduled for release on June 30. It was back in June 2014 that she hit the only No. 1 with the single Fancy, featuring Charli XCX.
The Australian rapper said she is planning a second career in film and TV production.
