Britney Spears ‘slapped’ by NBA star’s security

Pop icon Britney Spears broke her silence on the alleged slap heard around the world as new detail emerged about the bizarre British accent she used to scream “f---ing America”.

A witness to the incident claimed in a video that Spears “infiltrated” her way into the inner circle of NBA star Victor Wembanyama before leaning in with a British accent saying “excuse me, sir... excuse me, sir”.

Her sunglasses flew off and she screamed “this is f---ing America” in the same British accent after being allegedly slapped by Wembanyama’s security guard.

In video posted online, Spears was heard adding “That’s America for you! F —k you all!”

In a lengthy Instagram post, Spears called the “traumatic experience” super embarrassing.

“I was not prepared for what happened to me last night. I recognised an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again,” she wrote.

“His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.”

“I get swarmed by people all the time,” Spears added. “In fact, that night. I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn’t hit any of them.”

While spears filed a police report, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Department said in a statement that no charges would be filed.

It comes after Wembanyama said “something did happen, a little bit” that he later found out was Spears.

was walking with some security from the team to some restaurant,” the NBA star, 19,

“We were in the hall. There was a lot of people, so people were calling [at] me, obviously. There was one person who was calling me but we talked before with security,” he told ESPN reporters.

“I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight and didn’t stop,” he said.

“That person grabbed me from behind -- not on my shoulder -- she grabbed me from behind. I just know the security pushed her away.

“I didn’t know for a couple hours, but when I came back to the hotel ... I thought it was no big deal, and then security of the Spurs told me it was Britney Spears,” the pro baller told ESPN.

“At first, I was like, ‘You’re joking,’ but yeah, it turns out it was Britney Spears. I never saw her face. I just kept walking straight.”

SPEARS ‘SLAPPED’ IN NBA STAR DRAMA

Britney Spears was reportedly slapped in the face by a security guard when she tried to get a photo with rising NBA star Victor Wembanyama.

The alleged assault took place as the 41-year-old pop star reportedly tried to get a photo with the teen phenomenon at a restaurant inside the ARIA Hotel in Vegas.

According to a report in TMZ, the incident happened after Spears tapped the 223cm star on the shoulder.

Damian Smith — the Director of Team Security for the Wembanyama’s NBA team, the San Antonio Spurs — responded, and Spears fell to the ground and her glasses were knocked off her face as a result of the interaction.

Footage reviewed by police reportedly showed Smith pushing Spears’ hand away, with the pop icon’s hand hitting her face.

Police are expected to meet with Spears in relation to the incident, according to TMZ.

The pop star reportedly “composed herself” and walked back to her table after the alleged incident, at which point the security guard came over and apologised, saying, “You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans.”

According to the New York Post, Spears apparently accepted the apology and spent time with the security guard – but after dinner, went to the police and filed an incident report for battery.

The incident “is not being handled as a criminal matter,” TMZ reported, citing sources, because authorities found Smith was attempting to defend Wembanyama and did not intend to harm Spears.

TMZ reported that Spears is a fan of Wembanyama and wanted a photo with him.

Wembanyama, a highly hyped prospect from France, was selected first overall by the Spurs in the 2023 NBA Draft last month.

He is scheduled to make his Summer League debut for the Spurs in Vegas on Friday local time.

Spears is said to have gone to the Catch restaurant with her husband, Sam Asghari, and two others.

The couple recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary, with Asghari commemorating the occasion on social media.

“Happy 1 year to me & my better half,” he posted to Instagram.

Spears and Asghari, a model, married last year. She was previously married to dancer Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007, with whom she has two sons: Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden, 16.

Prior to her second marriage to Federline, 45, Spears wed childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004.

The wedding was annulled 55 hours later.
