Boy George has confessed that he has beef with Adele after she acted “weirdly” and appeared to decline an opportunity to meet him.
George made an appearance on Smooth Radio in the UK recently where he revealed to listeners that he was holding a grudge toward the fellow British star.
He revealed that he was excited to meet Adele, only for her to decline the opportunity and send him an autographed present instead.
“So she sent me a signed, autographed program, which was very sweet because I’m not 16,” he told Smooth Radio last week.
“I was like, ‘OK, that’s nice and I love you, you’re amazing.’ And then she didn’t meet me.
“I think it’s really weird. It’s like, because I bought the tickets. I’ve actually paid for a meet and greet, but I didn’t get it. It was so weird. It was like, you love me, but you’re not saying hello.”
When asked by the radio presenter if he would have done the same to a famous fan in the past, he appeared frustrated at the question and insisted he would “never” treat another famous person the way Adele treated him.
“Never ever, on your life,” continued George.
“When I was playing Madison Square Garden, somebody come and said, there’s some people here called Torville and Dean.
“I’m like, ‘Get them the best seats in the house.’ 1000 per cent. ‘It’s the drummer from Kiss, give him the best seats.’”
He added: “Of course, it’s just what you do. Absolutely. It’s not a question.”
George’s remarks echo what he claimed about Madonna recently, revealing that the pop legend had also failed to greet him personally.
The Culture Club singer was present as the Queen of Pop kicked off her postponed Celebration greatest hits tour in the UK, and after the show he admitted Madge hadn’t bothered to welcome him.
“Everyone has asked, not unsurprisingly, did @Madonna say hi since I was backstage and the answer is no. Like @Adele she decided it was a step too far. Lol!” he tweeted.
George has a long-running one-sided feud with Madge, having made numerous remarks about her over the years.
When the American singer posed for Vanity Fair back in 1991, he famously said of the cover: “Comparing Madonna with Marilyn Monroe is like comparing Raquel Welch with the back of a bus.”
And in 2006, he reportedly called her a “vile, hideous human being with no redeeming qualities”.
