Aussies fuel live music boom as big stars prep tours here and more shows go on sale

The biggest music stars who’ve made the most cash can be revealed as more tours are coming to Australia. See the list and how you can get the best tickets.

Beyonce’s mind-blowing Renaissance feast of giant props and couture costumes remains on top of the wishlist for live music fans hoping she will announce an Australian leg in late 2023 or 2024.

As local promoters secure the world’s biggest pop extravaganzas, fans are anticipating visit from Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Depeche Mode, The Weeknd, Drake, The Cure, Kylie Minogue and the final tour of The Eagles.

Despite the huge demand for Taylor Swift Eras shows next year estimated to have generated $35 million in gross ticket sales for her seven Australian shows, consumer demand remains buoyant for live music.

While the cost of living crisis is squeezing retail spending, industry insiders are quietly confident that Australians desperate for an escape from economic pressures will seek out experiences such as live music.

“Most of the tours on sale in Australia right now are either selling out or above 75 per cent capacity across all levels of venues from small clubs to stadiums,” an insider said.

And Australian remains a happy hunting ground for tickets sales for the top tier stadium shows.

Industry bible Billboard recently updated their Top Tours Of All Time in the modern era, with all of the tours bar one enjoying box office bliss down under. The only one which didn’t come to Australia was the Rolling Stones’ No Filter shows.

Elton John currently holds the top spot with his Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour, which was interrupted by the pandemic, grossing $1.4 billion.

American pundits suggest Swift’s Eras tour, Beyonce’s Renaissance tour and Ed Sheeran’s Mathematics tour could eclipse John’s billion dollar box office gross by the time their current world jaunts wrap up this year or in 2024.
