THERE is more news for Star Wars fans today, as actor Woody Harrelson has been officially cast in the Han Solo spin-off movie.
He joins Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in the line-up that has just been revealed for the currently untitled film.
The movie will follow the life of a young Han Solo, which was revealed earlier this year to be played by Alden Ehrenreich, The Sun reports.
The film’s co-directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller said they “couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range”.
The role of Han Solo was made famous by Harrison Ford, who starred in the first three films during the 70s and 80s, and then reprised it in 2015 for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Woody rose to fame playing barman Woody in Cheers, and more recently seen as Haymitch Abernathy in all of the Hunger Games films.
Fans will have to wait a while though for this new movie, as the film isn’t due out until 2018.
Meanwhile, yesterday it was revealed how shooting of the final Star Wars film could be in jeopardy, following the sudden death of Carrie Fisher.
The actress, who played the famous Princess Leia, was due to reprise her role for the last instalment, but producers are now saying they “don’t know” what to do.
Executive producer JJ Abrams has revealed that the cast and crew have been struggling to deal with her passing just after Christmas.
He also admitted they had no idea of how to address the 60-year-old’s death in the blockbuster films.
Abrams said that Episode 8, which will include scenes shot by Carrie before her death, is currently being completed.
But Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has to oversee the finale’s production without her.
Abrams said: “The second film has been shot and that is being edited now but for the third one it remains to be seen what will happen. There is still no script and I don’t know what Colin is going to do.”
