The Hart sisters are home in Australia for the Melbourne Cup Carnival — and mother-of-two Jessica isn’t ruling out a wedding Down Under “some time soon”.
“I’m going to start planning like now – I really want to do it, and soon,” the 36-year-old model told Saturday Confidential from Flemington.
“I want to do it quick. I don’t want to wait — I’ve waited long enough.
“I’m actually wearing white sequins on set today …”
“Just do it on Derby Day,” laughed model sister Ashley, 34.
But Jess’s fiance, race car driver James Kirkham, would have to be in town for that, so they both agree that won’t work — in the meantime, putting feelers out for Aussie nuptials will have to do.
The sisters both live in the US — Jess in LA and Ashley in Texas — but they will enjoy summer surrounded by family and friends for the next few months, relishing the thought of an Aussie Christmas. Being together with the people they love is what they’ve missed most about their lives abroad.
For Jess it’s extra special, showing baby son Glorious his Aussie heritage for the first time. Her two-year-old daughter Baby-Rae is loving it so far too, she says.
“We miss our mum and our community, especially now having kids.
“I miss having people like close friends and family just popping in,” Jess said.
The sisters are here as guests of the VRC and will judge Fashions on the Field at Flemington on Derby Day.
They say the Melbourne Cup Carnival is as much about fashion as it is the races and honouring tradition — but this year, for the first time, fashions on the field will be gender-neutral.
And that’s an evolution they’re proud to support.
“It’s iconic to be part of, and gender neutral, so that makes it super-fun too, so girls can wear suits and wear dresses,” Ashley said.
“So it’s best suited, best dressed. We’re moving forward.”
While Jess is a more a hoodie-and-leggings kind of girl, they both love fashion and can’t wait to frock up for Derby Day.
“There are so many (choices) I love, I really can’t make a decision on what to wear,” Jess said.
“I might have to do an outfit change on the day, and I think I’m gonna plant the seed that we wear a lot of suits.”
