Meet your new Goggleboxers, Australia – as the latest couch commentators prepare to unleash

The exit of Angie and Yvie, and Adam and Symon, has made room for three new households on Foxtel and 10’s Logie-winning lifestyle series, Gogglebox Australia.

MAFS 2020 Episode 7 Recap: Honeymoon Heaven

Exclusive: Hanging out the washing on their apartment block’s backyard Hills hoist brought new Gogglebox Australia stars Kaday and Chantal together for their first gossip session – with viewers now set to eavesdrop on their neighbourly chats on Foxtel’s Logie-winning, top-rating lifestyle show.

The self-confessed chatterboxes are one of three new teams to join the TV phenomenon – with Lebanese Australian Elias family of five from Maroubra; and two surfer mates, Milo and Nic, airing their musings from the Gold Coast.

Replacing the flatmate pairing of Angie Kent and Yvie Jones, who both quit the series last year, the Sydney friends and neighbours regularly watch TV together and decided their couch commentary was funny and sassy enough to apply for the fly-on-the-wall series.

Chantal, who is studying social work at university, said: “we were watching The Bachelorette in my apartment and my friends kept telling us to shut up. So I thought we should get some appreciation for our commentary and not told off all the time.”

But the 23-year-old fiesty feminists’ obsession with the reality dating show does not stop there – both keen to follow in the footsteps of Kent and put their love lives on the line as the next Bachelorette.

“It’s fun and I’d love to be The Bachelorette but I’m a very confident person and at the end that show, their confidence reduces,” Kaday said.

“It’s a good trial and test for you. All these reality shows teach you how to react and respond … I’ve learned so much from them.”

Born in Sierra Leone, Kaday – who speaks seven languages – moved to Australia as a refugee at the age of 12, recently graduating with a degree in nursing and works with patients suffering from spinal cord injuries.

Their TV obsessions include Love Island and Bondi Rescue, with Chantal joking her early attempts to teach Kaday how to swim were a “re-enactment” of the show.

Meanwhile, the Elias clan has some TV experience, with dad Les a working actor before buying a car dealership.

His wife Danielle is a photographer and also runs a skincare business; but it’s their three children – Jacob, 15, Lily Rose, 12 and Ivy, 9 – who are expected to star with their big voices and big personalities.

The show’s executive producer, David McDonald, said: “We’re extremely excited to have three new households joining Gogglebox this season. All three are incredibly different and I for one can’t wait to hear their take on TV.”

The new season of Gogglebox with the new faces returns to Foxtel’s LifeStyle channel on Wednesday, February 24 and again the following day on Thursday on 10.
