Married At First Sight fading stars Bryce Ruthven, Sam Carraro flaunt fake rivalry for cameras

Fading MAFS ‘arch rivals’ Bryce and Sam weren't afraid to dial up their feud for the cameras at this glossy A-lister event.

It appears MAFS “arch rivals” Bryce Ruthven and Sam Carraro may not be so unfriendly after all.

The fading reality stars appeared to clash at a recent Melbourne hotel opening — seemingly in the hope they were being observed — only to shake hands when they realised nobody was looking or really cared about their presence at all.

When a photographer finally did bob up, it was straight back to their old game of failing to get along, as they refused to be snapped together.

The action, or lack of it, happened at the launch of restaurateur Mario Di Nardo’s new venture, The European Hotel on Fitzroy St.

There, we found ourselves leaning not against some vast goose-feather cushion but the plumped-up Brazilian lifted backside of Married At First Sight contestant Sarah Roza.

It was all fish lips, brotox and taut faces trying to hide turkey necks among the reality contestants and socialites at the official christening of the renamed hotel.

It used to be the old Elephant and Wheelbarrow pub, once frequented by backpackers and those with one too many under their belt and unable to gain entry into the more choosy Fitzroy St establishments.

Di Nardo said it was the restoration of the historic 170-year-old site with landlords Alfonso Liuzzi and Joe Scerri that has lured him back to the hospitality world.

It’s 10 years since Di Nardo left his famed Greville St restaurant Zucca Rossa and Southgate’s Scusa Mi.

The famed restaurateur did not want to create a nightclub scene, or a live venue and has split the hotel into four spaces, with a nod to his Italian roots with new restaurant Crudino.
