Lara Worthington fronts Summer 23 campaign for Myer with Cody Simpson

Myer has recruited a bona fide style icon to showcase its summer season.

Australia’s fashion darling Lara Worthington has been engaged by the 123-year-old department store to front its Summer 23 campaign.

The departure of Jennifer Hawkins in 2018 saw the end of the big-budget “ambassador era” of Australian retail, but securing Worthington proves that, despite the cost-of-living crunch, parts of the retail sector are alive and well.

This will be the first time Worthington has worked for one of Australia’s major department stores.

“Myer has always been a cornerstone of Australian fashion, and I’m incredibly excited to partner with a brand that shares my love for style, quality, and creativity,” Worthington told The Sunday Telegraph.

Worthington, the wife of Hollywood actor Sam Worthington, jetted into the country this week to shoot alongside singer-turned-swimmer Cody Simpson.

It comes as a time when the 36-year-old mother of three has been incredibly selective about which brands she works with.

“Being back on home soil always brings a sense of comfort and connection that fuels my creativity,” she said.

“The shoot with Myer was so much fun — days with 4am starts and juggling jet lag, but the results were worth it.”

With the cost-of-living crunch seeing customers focus more on staples, Myer has been strategic with its offering, which suits Worthington’s ever-changing style.

“Fashion-wise, I used to experiment a lot more — but with three boys it’s busy,” she said.

“So for day-to-day, I stick to my staple go-to pieces that are easy to wear.”

Myer chief customer officer Geoff Ikin said enlisting style chameleon Worthington coincided with the return of Country Road.
