What’s better than one Minogue sister at Mardi Gras? Two Minogue sisters, of course!
Sydney’s Mardi Gras weekend has opened with a bang, with Kylie and Dannii Minogue stealing the show at the Live and Proud: Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert.
The duo delighted the 20,000-strong crowd at The Domain.
Joining the party were Charli XCX and Jess Mauboy.
Almost 30 years since her first Mardi Gras performance, pop superstar Kylie Minogue returned to the stage with a setlist especially created for the show. She had fans in the palm of her hands throughout her performance.
But it was her final song that blew the audience away as her sister Dannii joined her on stage in a matching outfit for her All The Lovers hit.
After earlier wearing a parachute-style jumpsuit, Kylie shone in a sparkling blue number while Dannii wore the same showstopping skin tight jumpsuit in pink — setting the scene for the glitz and glamour that is the Sydney Mardi Gras.
Kylie said the night brought her back to a Mardi Gras after-party performance nearly three decades before.
“I just want to say your energy and being here with you tonight is so amazing,” she said.
“It takes me back to 1994. It was a lot sweatier than this was cos it was indoors.
“I am so happy to be here with you all tonight.”
The feeling was mutual among the crowd.
“This was the most amazing concert the sisters didn’t disappoint,” one crowd member said.
“They were mind-blowing, couldn’t have asked or a better start to this legendary weekend in Sydney.”
