K-Pop has taken over the world and, according to one of Korea’s biggest girl groups, the secret behind its global appeal isn’t as complicated as you would think.

“It is so simple,” says Siuen, one of six members of STAYC, who played at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney on Thursday night on the Australian leg of their STAY TUNED world tour.

“I think that’s why it is receiving a lot of love.”

When asked how they would explain K-Pop’s magic to Aussies who have never heard it before, the answer was unanimous: versatility.

“There’s a lot of diversity in songs and something to match everyone’s general taste in K-pop,” she explained. “So I’m pretty sure there is a song out there for you.”

Since bursting onto the scene in 2020, STAYC has carved out a unique place in the crowded K-pop landscape.

Their viral “TEENFRESH” concept, a mix of bold energy and youthful charm, has helped propel them to the top of charts worldwide.

Their 2024 album Metamorphic showcased just that, a genre-spanning record that debuted on Spotify’s “Top Albums Debut” charts globally.
